TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Governor Scott and Volunteer Florida today thanked Emmy-nominated actress Sofia Vergara for supporting the Florida Disaster Fund to benefit victims of Hurricane Irma. Vergara recorded a public service announcement that will be aired statewide by Comcast and other partners. To make a donation, visit FloridaDisasterFund.org or text DISASTER to 20222 to make a $10.00 donation.

Governor Scott said, “We are grateful for Sofia’s commitment to the countless families and communities in Florida that have been impacted by Hurricane Irma. We encourage Floridians and people across the nation to give to the Florida Disaster Fund – it is the best way to support Florida.”

Vergara is not only committed to raise funds for disaster victims; she has also worked to with partners Rooms to Go, Head & Shoulders, EBY, Ninja Coffee Bar, and RAZE to donate needed products. Her office also served as an information hub last week to help Floridians get out of the storm safely.

Volunteer Florida CEO Vivian Myrtetus said, “Volunteer Florida thanks Sofia for supporting the Florida Disaster Fund. As the state’s official private fund to support disaster survivors, the Florida Disaster Fund is a trusted resource for disaster response and recovery in Florida and donations will go directly to those in need.”

The Florida Disaster Fund, administered by the Volunteer Florida Foundation, was activated by Governor Scott to aid those impacted by Hurricane Irma.
