TALLAHASSEE, Fla. —Volunteer Florida today thanked the One America Appeal, a joint appeal by all five living former American Presidents, for directing donations to the Florida Disaster Fund. The One America Appeal, originally designed to encourage Americans to support recovery efforts from Hurricane Harvey, has been expanded to include those affected by Hurricane Irma in Florida and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. To date, the One America Appeal has directed more than $3.5 million in donations to the Florida Disaster Fund.

Volunteer Florida CEO Vivian Myrtetus said, “As Florida’s official private fund for disaster response and recovery, the Florida Disaster Fund is working to fulfill unmet needs across disaster-impacted communities. The Florida Disaster Fund has served countless Floridians as they respond to disasters, and the support of all five living former Presidents will ensure that our disaster relief partners can make even more of an impact.”

In addition, the One America Appeal also hosted a hurricane relief concert, “Deep From the Heart,” which took place Saturday evening at Texas A&M’s Reed Arena. The concert, which featured rock and country musicians including ALABAMA, Sam Moore, Yolanda Adams, Lyle Lovett, Cassadee Pope and Lady Gaga, raised $2.6 million for One America Appeal. All ticket sales and other proceeds from the concert will go directly to hurricane relief efforts, including the Florida Disaster Fund.
