TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, Volunteer Florida thanked Florida Blue for its generous donation of $100,000 to the Florida Disaster Fund, which was activated last week to aid those impacted by Hurricane Irma. The Florida Disaster Fund, administered by the Volunteer Florida Foundation, is the State of Florida’s official private fund established to assist Florida’s communities in times of disaster.

“While we know that Floridians are incredibly resilient, we also know that our neighbors will need help to recover and rebuild. Our entire Florida Blue family, driven by our mission, stands ready to do its part,” said Florida Blue CEO Pat Geraghty. “I am very proud to say that our company will contribute $100,000 to the Florida Disaster Fund, as part of our statewide pledge of $1 million to support relief and recovery efforts across Florida.”

Volunteer Florida CEO Vivian Myrtetus said, “Florida Blue’s generous contribution will be used to support the tremendous work our disaster relief organizations are doing to serve Florida families, businesses, and communities. We are grateful.”

Florida Blue’s donation was made through its charitable arm, the Florida Blue Foundation.
