Volunteer Florida is thrilled to highlight The Arc Jacksonville, a Volunteer Florida grantee. In partnership with the University of North Florida, Volunteer Florida deploys AmeriCorps members to the university campus to serve students with unique intellectual and developmental abilities. AmeriCorps members help students gain independent living skills, employability skills, academic skills, and social skills during their college experience. In 2015, AmeriCorps members engaged 120 individuals and provided over 3,000 hours of peer mentoring, pre-employment training and networking opportunities for post-graduation employment. 100% of students engaged in the program improved their workplace knowledge, financial literacy, and professional skills, ultimately kick-starting the careers of 67 students with unique abilities. Keep up the amazing work, The Arc Jacksonville!
