This month, Volunteer Florida is proud to highlight Catholic Charities of Florida!

When the State of Florida is impacted by disasters or emergencies, volunteers from Catholic Charities of Florida are on the ground quickly to provide immediate relief and facilitate long term recovery. The organization’s mission is to empower Floridians of all backgrounds to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.

Catholic Charities of Florida has deep roots in disaster response and volunteer service. The organization responded to devastating flooding in the Florida Panhandle and Pasco County in 2014 and 2016. Catholic Charities of Florida was one of the first organizations to respond to both flooding events, and volunteers continue to support those communities with long term recovery. Following the tornados that impacted Pensacola in February of this year, volunteers with Catholic Charities of Florida worked tirelessly to repair and rebuild homes across the community.

Most recently, Catholic Charities of Florida provided case management, financial assistance, and grief counselors to those who were impacted by the mass shooting in Orlando. Catholic Charities of Florida has also opened an Orlando office to continue serving individuals, families, and businesses.

Governor Scott and Volunteer Florida presented a Champion of Service Award to Catholic Charities of Florida during the August Cabinet Meeting to recognize these efforts.
