Kelli Walker currently serves as the District Volunteer Coordinator for Leon County Schools in Tallahassee. Kelli is responsible for administering the volunteer, mentor, and business partner programs at the district level. The Leon County Schools volunteer program consists of over 18,000 volunteers, 1300 mentors, and 700 business partners. For the 2018-2019 school year, these programs generated a collective community involvement total in excess of $6.7 million. In addition, Kelli has worked for the Florida Department of Education in the role of Director of Volunteer and Community Involvement. In that capacity, she oversaw programs that promote exemplary practices in volunteer and community engagement in Florida’s public schools.
Prior to arriving at the Florida Department of Education, Kelli served as the volunteer coordinator at Gilchrist Elementary School, where she built and administered a volunteer program consisting of over 750 parents, grandparents, and community members. During her tenure, the collective volunteer labor exceeded $1.5 million.
Kelli established the Partners in Excellence Program at Montford Middle School. Recognizing the tremendous impact school-community partnerships can have in enhancing learning environments for schools, Kelli created a business partner program at Montford Middle School consisting of over 100 different businesses and organizations. After six years, the Montford Partners in Excellence Program’s collective donations were approximately $750,000.00 in monetary contributions, goods and services, and volunteer labor.
Always seeking ways to bring about school improvement, for eight years, Kelli has served on School Advisory Councils at four different schools, the Leon County School’s District Advisory Council for four years, and the Central Council for Leon County Schools for two years. Furthermore, she has acted as the fundraising chair for the Leon High School Girls Soccer Program, a member of the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) nominating committees for three different schools, and secretary of the Leon High School PTO. In 2007, Kelli was named as the Tallahassee Democrat’s Volunteer of Year in the education category. Previously, Kelli served as the secretary of the Florida Association of Partners in Education.
A native Floridian, Kelli graduated from Florida State University and holds Bachelors of Arts in Spanish and International Affairs. Kelli resides in Tallahassee with her husband, Jeff, and they have two children, Caroline and Scott.
