Volunteer Florida, the entity responsible for managing AmeriCorps programs in the State of Florida, is pleased to announce the 2024-2025 AmeriCorps funding request for proposals (RFP). Organizations interested in applying should respond to the RFP by Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. (EDT). “Volunteer Florida is proud to offer this funding to help leverage our state’s community needs, including educational mentorship, environmental stewardship, healthy futures for veterans, and so much more,” said Volunteer Florida CEO Josie Tamayo. “We encourage organizations seeking to further strengthen their community’s resilience to apply for this opportunity.”

 

Over 1,600 people pledged to improve Florida’s communities this past year through AmeriCorps. AmeriCorps members serve in many capacities, including educational support, veterans’ services, public land conservation, disaster response, and more. AmeriCorps is the federal agency for national service and volunteering, and funding is administered by state service commissions like Volunteer Florida. Over the last 30 years, AmeriCorps has empowered over 1.25 million individuals nationwide to dedicate a year of service, driving solutions to our communities’ most pressing issues. In return, members gain leadership skills, on-the-job training, and a living stipend and educational award equivalent to the Pell Grant to pay for post-secondary educational costs or repay student loans.

To provide applicants with an opportunity to ask questions and receive general feedback, Volunteer Florida staff will host a webinar for continuation applicants as well as a webinar for new and recompete applicants.
