Dear Partners and Friends,
I hope you and your families are doing well. Over the past few months, the team at Volunteer Florida has continued “getting things done” for Florida.
Service Project with Samaritan’s Purse
As our community recovered from the tornado that devastated Tallahassee a few months ago, I had the privilege of partnering with Samaritan’s Purse for a hands-on service project. Together, we worked to clear debris and assist a homeowner whose house had suffered significant damage.
This effort underscores our ongoing commitment to disaster recovery and the power of community support in times of need. Alongside dedicated volunteers, we were able to bring much needed hope and relief to the affected homeowner, embodying the resilience and service that define our mission.
Loggerhead Marinelife Center
I had the pleasure of visiting the incredible Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, accompanied by Senator Gayle Harrell. We toured the facility, met the dedicated staff, and learned about the amazing work they do in marine conservation.
A highlight of the day was presenting Volunteer Florida’s Excellence in Volunteerism Award to long-time volunteer Deb Rasmussen. Her unwavering dedication has made a significant impact on the Center’s mission. It was truly inspiring to celebrate Deb and all the wonderful volunteers at Loggerhead Marinelife Center.
Congratulations, Deb, and thank you for your incredible service!
Hurricane Debby Relief Efforts
As Florida’s communities recovered from the impacts of Hurricane Debby, I had the honor of serving alongside The Salvation Army of Florida in Perry.
We delivered meals to those in need and took the opportunity to personally thank the many incredible volunteers and partner organizations for their tireless efforts in helping our fellow Floridians through these challenging times.
Their dedication and hard work are truly inspiring, and together, we are making a difference in the lives of those affected by the storm.
Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay Disaster Bucket Giveaway
One of Volunteer Florida’s incredible Emergency Management partners, Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay, continues to make a difference! Recently, Volunteer Florida Commissioner Jessica Hays and I attended a community giveaway event in Sarasota in response to the impacts of Hurricane Debby.
We distributed hundreds of tarps, flood buckets, hurricane buckets, and critical supplies to Sarasota residents impacted by Hurricane Debby. Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay has made a lasting difference through their dedication to supporting our communities. With partners like them, we are better equipped to rebuild stronger!
