Dear Partners and Friends,

I hope this email finds you and your families well. Over the past few months, the team at Volunteer Florida has been hard at work, from responding to COVID-19 to announcing our #VF30in30 honorees. I invite you to keep reading to learn more about what our organization has been doing and what we have in store over this next quarter.

COVID-19 Response

Volunteer Florida is proud to support Florida’s communities under blue skies and grey. During COVID-19, we have worked to provide several resources to both nonprofit organizations and volunteers. We’re also proud to support our AmeriCorps programs and members who have stepped up to serve Florida. Interested in helping? Here are a few great ways:

AmeriCorps Planning Grant

Volunteer Florida is excited to make $300,000 available in AmeriCorps Planning Grants to support organizations interested in implementing an AmeriCorps program that addresses a critical community need caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizations interested in applying for this planning grant should respond to the notice of funding by Thursday, June 18 at 5 pm (ET).

#VF30in30

Earlier this week, Volunteer Florida announced the names of the #VF30in30 honorees. These volunteers were nominated by their peers because of their commitment and service to others. To learn more about these 30 outstanding volunteers, click here.

Hurricane Preparedness

As the lead agency for volunteers and donations before, during and after disaster, Volunteer Florida stands ready to support the state during hurricane season which began this week.

If you have not done so already, please take a moment to prepare yourself and your family with a disaster supply kit. Did you know that most disaster supplies are tax-exempt as a part of the Florida Hurricane Preparedness Tax Holiday which ends today? For a full list of eligible items, please click here.

VGF Funding Opportunity

Later this summer, Volunteer Florida will have a funding opportunity through the Volunteer Generation Fund (VGF). Volunteer Florida’s VGF program, which is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, helps organizations use skills-based volunteers to serve Florida students, families and communities. Join our mailing list to stay up-to-date on this funding opportunity and others.

AmeriCorps Recruitment Campaign

Becoming an AmeriCorps member is an incredible way to serve your community while also earning a living stipend, education award and valuable professional skills. To learn more about AmeriCorps and our programs across the state that are actively recruiting members, please click here. Most of our AmeriCorps programs begin on August 1.

Thank you for your support of Volunteer Florida. This summer, I hope you and your families will continue to stay healthy and consider ways that you can give back. To find volunteer opportunities in your community, please visit Volunteer Connect. Together, we can #ServeFL.

Yours in Service,

Clay Ingram
