To kickoff the start of April’s Florida Volunteer Month celebration, Volunteer Florida CEO Chester Spellman today announced a new video PSA, social media campaign and strategic partnerships with Comcast and Cabot Creamery to celebrate Florida’s volunteers throughout the entire month of April.
CEO Chester Spellman said, “Florida Volunteer Month celebrates our state’s 3.3 million hardworking volunteers and encourages others to get started. We are thankful to our sponsors and partners who are helping us to make Florida Volunteer Month an exciting statewide event!”
In honor of Florida Volunteer Month and in partnership with Comcast, a new video PSA promoting volunteerism is launching today and will air on Comcast networks across Florida throughout 2014. Watch the PSA here.

Volunteer Florida is also partnering with the Cabot Creamery “Gratitude Grille” to thank volunteers with a delicious complimentary meal! The Grille is headed to volunteer appreciation events and service projects across Florida in April including stops in: Orlando, Marion County, Citrus County, Tampa, St. Petersburg and Ponte Vedra Beach.
“The 1,200 dairy farm families who own Cabot Creamery Cooperative are proud to be a part of this campaign to promote volunteerism,” said Bob Schiers, Public Relations Manager for Cabot Creamery. “Our farmers have extolled and practiced the virtues of community service and volunteerism since our cooperative was formed in 1919 by serving as volunteer firefighters, classroom aides, healthcare providers, emergency squad members and countless other unpaid activities. We support and promote volunteerism through Cabot programs including Reward Volunteers, the Cabot Community Celebrity Awards and the Cabot Farmer’s Gratitude Grille. We’re pleased to celebrate Florida Volunteer Month by bringing the Gratitude Grille to Florida to offer delicious, healthy meals to those who serve their communities with no expectation of something in return.”
Finally, to showcase the variety of volunteers making a difference in Florida’s communities, Volunteer Florida will highlight 30 volunteers for the 30 days of April on its Facebook and Twitter pages
