Volunteer Florida is thrilled to congratulate CEO Chester Spellman on being named as the 2016 Young Floridian by the Bob Graham Center for Public Policy at the University of Florida. The award recognizes individuals who have made substantial contributions to the state of Florida both professionally and civically.

“Our goal with these awards is to emphasize that true success is not only measured by one’s educational and professional achievement, but also by the ways we contribute to the well-being of our society,” said David Colburn, Ph.D., Bob Graham Center director and provost and senior vice president emeritus of the University of Florida.

The award was presented at the Bob Graham Center Annual Gathering in Tampa, which also marked the Graham Center’s Ten Year Anniversary celebration and Former Governor and U.S. Senator Bob Graham’s 80th birthday.

Orlando businessman and humanitarian Harris Rosen, founder and president of the Rosen Hotels & Resorts in Orlando, was recognized as Citizen of the Year.

“It is my belief that we are placed on this earth to serve others,” said Spellman. “I am incredibly fortunate to serve as the CEO of an organization that shares this vision. This recognition provides motivation to work harder and serve more Floridians, and I am truly thankful for this award.”
