Maritza Rovira-Forino is the Diversity Business Director of Foresight Construction Group, Inc. overseen minority business inclusion in projects through out the State of Florida. As involved as she has been with minority business development in over twenty eight year career around the State, she is very much engrained in Tampa’s volunteer, philanthropic and business communities.
Rovira-Forino has served on many different boards in Tampa including her service as Chair of the City of Tampa Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Council. She has focused her skills on benefiting minority students in much of her volunteer work, including her successful leadership of annual “Latinos Unidos” luncheon and her service as President of the University of South Florida Latin Advisory Council. Her involvement with USF lasted 22 years of service in many capacities: as mentor, select working committees and developing new ideas geared towards the recruitment and retention on minority students and faculty.
As a former board member of the Glazer Children’s Museum, she was instrumental in the fundraising process for the construction of the Museum; she also served eight years with the South West Florida Water Management District, he last four years as a Governing Board Member.
Additional Boards that she has served include the American Red Cross, Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI), Florida College Access Network , Greater Florida Minority Development Council and Trans Star Transportation Group the largest minority transportation company in Central Florida.
She has been the recipient of many awards such as the Women in Industry Award, the Hispanic Corporate Achiever Award and she has twice received the Minority Advocate Award from the U.S. Department of Commerce, She was Tampa Hispanic Heritage 2011 Woman of the Year and the first woman recipient of the Presidential Medal conferred by the Sistema Universitario Ana G. Mendez, the first bi lingual institution of higher education in the USA where she serves now in an advisory capacity on their Board.
Rovira-Forino holds a B.A. (Cum Laude) in Political Science and Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico and is married to Donald J. Forino.
