Chief Operating Officer
Bonnie Hazleton joined Volunteer Florida as Chief Operating Officer in February 2015. Prior to joining Volunteer Florida, Bonnie served three years in the Executive Office of the Governor as the Director of the Office of Open Government, where she was responsible for implementation of the Governor’s open government policies. Bonnie served as a liaison for citizens and agencies to resolve open government issues and worked to develop collaborative relationships with state and national media outlets and various other stakeholder groups.
Prior to working for the Governor, Bonnie served four years as Director of the Office of the Ombudsman and Public Services for the Department of Environmental Protection. Her background also includes work with the Statewide Office on Homelessness, where she administered state and federal homeless allocations and worked to develop collaborative relationships with stakeholders groups. Bonnie also worked in the field of psychology, providing therapy to patients with schizophrenia, and conducting drug trial research.
Bonnie graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and from St. Mary’s University, where she earned a Masters in Clinical Psychology with a focus in neuropsychology.
In her free time, Bonnie enjoys kayaking, horseback riding, and volunteering in music ministry, youth programs and homelessness prevention.
