What kind of volunteering do you do? I serve on the Advisory Board for Camp Kesem at Florida State University – a student-organized nonprofit organization that provides a free week of summer camp and year-round support for kids who have been affected by their parents’ cancer. During my time at FSU, I was on the Executive Board, responsible for recruiting campers, and I served as a counselor at camp every summer. It has been an extremely fun and overwhelmingly rewarding experience.
I’m also a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend. My Little Sister is one of the funniest, kindest people that I know, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to spend time with her, share my insight with her and even learn a thing or two from her.
What’s your favorite sports team? I love the Noles! But my whole family is from Kentucky, so naturally, I have to cheer for the Wildcats during basketball season.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever done? I was fortunate enough to see four humpback whales lunge feeding right around our boat in the middle of the Salish Sea (between Washington and British Colombia).
What are you thankful for? I have the most supportive family, fun, caring friends and the cutest dog, Georgie.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.”
Who is your hero? My dad – he taught me the value of hard work and the importance of kindness.
