Over the past seven days, the State Emergency Operation Center in Tallahassee has been activated at Level I for the Statewide Hurricane Exercise. This year, Hurricane Suiter blasted Florida’s southeast coast as a dangerous Category 4 storm and then reentered Florida’s panhandle for a second landfall as a Category 2 storm several days later.
During this time Volunteer Florida, the statewide coordinator for Emergency Support Function 15 Volunteers and Donations, worked closely with all of it’s partners—evaluating needs and examining resources—to make sure that we will be able to assist Florida residents in case of a real disaster. We had an unprecedented level of participation from our support organizations, including full scale exercises from many agencies deployed in the field!
Because of these support organizations, Florida’s disaster survivors will be well taken care of. |
