National AmeriCorps Week

The third annual AmeriCorps Week, taking place on May 9-16 2009, is America’s opportunity to honor the dedication and work done by all AmeriCorps members and motivate more Americans to serve their communities. Whether you’re an AmeriCorps member, alumni, or friend, there are countless ways to support AmeriCorps Week and bring more Americans into service. AmeriCorps Week events are happening across Florida. Here are a few ideas on what you can do to make the 3rd Annual AmeriCorps Week a success in your community!

• Speak to a community group.
• Stage a special event.
• Reach out to the media.
• Submit your videos and pictures depicting how AmeriCorps is “getting things done” in your community by entering the AmeriCorps 2009 Video and Photo Contests.

You can also promote AmeriCorps Week by ordering a FREE presentation kit. This kit features tips on speaking to groups, facts and figures on AmeriCorps, a DVD with a PowerPoint slideshow on AmeriCorps and a video of AmeriCorps members in action. The kit also features fun handouts, such as stickers, bookmarks, and posters that you may choose to hand out at your talk.
