- Contact your local veterans group and organize or attend an event for veterans commemorating Veterans Day and Memorial Day in your neighborhood. Find a VFW or American Legion in your community.
- Support wounded veterans and their families by checking out the programs at the American Red Cross Armed Forces, VA Voluntary Service, and CAUSE: Comfort for America's Uniformed Services Elite.
- Want to use your professional skills to help? Check out the Coming Home Project and the Military Pro Bono Project - just a few great examples of ways your specialized skill set can serve those who served us.
- When organizing a letter or card writing campaign, be sure to include the veterans at your local VA hospital. Learn more about letters to the troops and some tips on running a successful campaign from the Red Cross.
- Work with an organization like Homes for Our Troops, which assists injured veterans and their families by building new or adapting existing homes for handicapped accessibility.
