The State Emergency Operations Center has been activated in support of the evacuation efforts from the Western Gulf Coast States. Shelters are being opened along the I-10 corridor. In coordination with the Department of Transportation's travelers information number "511", The Florida Emergency Information Line (1-800-342-3557) has been activated to provide shelter information.  View shelter information.

Let’s Start to “Sea Change” Together at Florida’s Coastal Cleanup

On Saturday, September 20, 2008, you can band together with others Governor Charlie Cristfrom your community and around the globe to help cleanup Florida’s precious beaches and preserve the natural environment. In addition, you'll meet other like-minded people, become better acquainted with your natural surroundings, learn about ocean conservation issues and have lots of fun! Last year 29,494 volunteers participated in the Florida’s International Coastal Cleanup day, removing 442,599 pounds of trash and debris from 1,891 miles of Florida’s shoreline.

“It is important that we in the State of Florida are responsible stewards ofour natural resources and I am proud to support measures to ensure we protect our environment for future generations,” said Honorary Chair Governor Charlie Crist. “Florida’s natural resources are second to none and together we can take steps to protect those resources.”
