Connie S. Stophel

Connie S. Stophel has served as Chief Executive Officer of Episcopal Children’s Services (ECS) since April of 2003. She has had a long association with ECS, first joining ECS after graduating high school. After leaving to raise her family, she returned in 1990 and has served as CFO, Vice President of Finance and Business Operations, and Executive Vice President. After serving for three years as Executive V.P., she became the CEO.

ECS is the largest non-profit childcare agency in Northeast Florida, and has been recognized regionally and nationally as an innovator among early childhood specialists, including the State Partnership for School Readiness and Yale University. Under Mrs. Stophel’s guidance, ECS has experienced over 56% growth, administering over $39 million a year in child care and education dollars.

As CEO, Mrs. Stophel oversees and is responsible for over 250 childcare specialists, teachers, executives and administrative staff. She is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the National Head Start Association, the Jacksonville Women’s Network, the Early Learning Coalition of Clay, Nassau, Baker, and Bradford, the Early Learning Coalition of Putnam/St. Johns, and the Mayor of Jacksonville’s Early Literacy Partnership Policy Council. Mrs. Stophel is also an alumnus of the Leadership Jacksonville Class of 2006. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Jacksonville University, a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of North Florida, and is a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at the University of North Florida.
