Committee: Disability Outreach; Grants/AmeriCorps
Megan Spillane served three years as an AmeriCorps member and dedicated more than 1,700 hours per year to mentoring and tutoring children. Outside of her commitment to AmeriCorps, she volunteers at other organizations such as School Block Talks, Shands teaching Hospital’s Pediatric Unit, Alachua County Sheriff’s Department’s Phoenix Substation and The Able Trust Youth Leadership Conference. Her passion is teaching reading. She is currently a Title I Teacher with the Alachua County School Board. Although she is a person with Cerebral Palsy, Ms. Spillane has excelled professionally, as well as in serving her community.
