Suzanne Richards is the State Program Director for the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) Florida State Office. Ms. Richards has 14 years experience in organizational development, training and evaluation. She has concentrated expertise in the areas of project management, facilitative leadership, youth leadership development, and volunteer administration. She has conducted training programs and workshops for educators, volunteers, social service providers, community-based organizations, law enforcement and youth across the country.
Most recently, Ms. Richards served as the Training Director for Faith, Community and National Service Programs at the National Crime Prevention Council in Washington, DC. This included the management of a CNCS Training and Technical Assistance grant in the areas of supervisory skills, project management and public safety in support of AmeriCorps and national service programs. During her tenure she also worked to strengthen and support collaborative efforts between national service programs and faith-based social service providers, especially in distressed urban communities. In addition, she provided technical assistance to CNCS staff and programs around homeland security, mentoring children of offenders, and ex-offender re-entry.
Ms. Richards has significant experience working with small, community-based organizations throughout the country. Prior to joining NCPC, Suzanne was a Training Director with the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation in Princeton, New Jersey. She has also served as a Program Manager with St. Louis Partners AmeriCorps and the St. Louis Public Schools, and as a Probation and Parole Officer with the Missouri Department of Corrections in St. Louis, Missouri.
She has been actively involved with CNCS since the inception of AmeriCorps in 1994, working directly with programs implementing community oriented problem solving initiatives in Missouri, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, District of Columbia, and Rhode Island.
Ms. Richards serves as an ex-officio member to the Commission.
