Linda King is an avid nature enthusiast with a keen interest in the conservation and development of natural resources for the benefit of Florida’s citizens.

King’s community service includes: Chairman for the Florida Greenways and Trails Council; Chairman and member of the Governor’s Faith-Based and Community Advisory Board; member of The Trust for Public Land’s Northeast Florida Advisory Council; Board Member for the St. Johns River Alliance; Board Member for Volunteer Jacksonville; and founder of FreshLinks, a FreshMinistries Initiative. King is also co-founder of Women to the Rescue (now known as Neighbors to the Rescue), a statewide initiative of Volunteer Florida Foundation.

In 2006, Volunteer Jacksonville awarded King with a Planned Acts of Kindness Award at its annual recognition gala for area volunteers, and The Women’s Republican Club of Duval County awarded her as the 2006 Volunteer of the Year. She has supported Jacksonville’s civic activities through a variety of organizations, including the Junior League and Seminole Boosters, and was a finalist for Jacksonville’s Eve awards for her Volunteer Service efforts after Hurricane Katrina.

Recently, King helped with the passage of the St. Johns River Alliance license tag by the 2010 Florida Legislature. King was a practicing dental hygienist of 26 years, and served as a member on the Florida Board of Dentistry for eight of those years. She is the widow of the beloved former President of the Florida Senate, Jim King.
