Maureen Sullivan-Hartung

Maureen Sullivan-Hartung is an active volunteer in the Naples area where she has resided for the past 26 years. During that time, she has served as both board member and volunteer to numerous charitable organizations. Her past volunteer efforts have included the American Red Cross (as a youth leader); Girl Scouts (as a leader); Literacy Volunteers of America (as a tutor); and she recently co-chaired her church’s three-day 50th Anniversary celebration. She served on the Friends of the Library Board, 1992-1997, and again presently beginning in 2005. She has also served on the Immokalee Child Care Center Board as well as the local NAACP Board. Ms. Sullivan-Hartung has also volunteered over the years in several service organizations that included the Naples Junior Woman’s Club – Publicity Chairman; Zonta Club of Naples – Education Chairman (programs); and the Naples Woman’s Club where she created their first marketing brochure in 2001.

Ms. Sullivan-Hartung is currently involved with the Collier County Coalition against Human Trafficking and serves as both secretary and newsletter editor. She also developed their initial marketing brochure and assists with the organization’s speakers bureau. She is a contributing writer to the Naples Press Club’s Web site where she is a founding member of the 10-year-old club. Additionally, she serves as Membership Chair of the local DOVIA (Directors of Volunteers in Agencies) program; and she once again choreographed the annual seasonal Author Lecture Series with the Friends of the Library, held January—April 2008. Due to her personal involvement and many contacts, she was recently appointed by the Naples Daily News to a five-member panel to judge nominees for the Jefferson Awards program. This program honors individuals who have voluntarily given of themselves to the betterment of the community. She also was a driving force in the establishment of a faith-based volunteer center in Collier County.

Ms. Sullivan-Hartung received the American Association of University Women’s “Women on the Go” Award in 1996 for her previous efforts benefiting the library. And in 1997 she was honored with the “New Member Life Blood Award” by the NAACP board.
