Dr. Burt Harres is the vice president of instruction/provost, West Campus of Pasco Hernando Community College in New Port Richey, Florida. Prior to his arrival at Pasco Hernando Community College, Dr. Harres served in numerous administrative capacities at Hillsborough Community College and at the University of South Florida.
Dr. Harres has been actively involved in community affairs in Pasco County and Hernando County. He is a member of the board of directors of the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce. He formerly served on the board of directors of the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Hernando County. Dr. Harres was president of the board of directors of the United Way of Hernando County in 2003 and 2004. He was chairperson of the board of directors of Hernando County's Take Stock in Children program, and chairperson of the board of directors of the Brooksville/Hernando County Enterprise Zone Development Agency. He was a member of the Citizen's Advisory Council for Oak Hill Hospital and belonged to the Kiwanis Club of Brooksville. In 1995, Dr. Harres served as president of the board of directors for the Florida Association of Community Colleges.
Dr. Harres was appointed to the Commission by Governor Jeb Bush on April 12, 2005.
