April is Florida Volunteer Month!2009 Florida Volunteer Month Posters

THE GOVERNOR'S COMMISSION on Volunteerism and Community Service, Volunteer Florida, is proud to sponsor the 5th Annual Florida Volunteer Month! Each April, Florida celebrates the volunteers that improve lives and communities across the state, and encourages Floridians who have not discovered the joys of volunteering to join the volunteer movement!

This year Volunteer Florida wants you to Brighten Your World by volunteering in your local community. What does this mean? GET INVOLVED!! Volunteer service has never been more important than it is today. Mentor a child, feed the homeless, clean up a park or beautify green spaces—there are so many ways to make a difference in the lives of others! And what you will receive in return is priceless.

Schools, hospitals, parks, and churches are just a few of the places you'll find volunteers. Disaster relief organizations, such as the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army, need trained volunteers in case of a disaster. Now is the perfect time to sign up and get trained to help before a disaster strikes!

Use this Web site is a resource to promote and recognize volunteers in your community! And don't forget to order your FREE Florida Volunteer Month poster, available while supplies last.
